Paladins aren't that much different.
If you can keep knocking them back, stunning, and countering them correctly they won't be able to use thier damage bonus against you. All they are now is just a player with twice the normal hp (which is actually halved if they used the paladin after reviving in the arena.)
Still to wittle away at a paladin like that is and beat him is still impressive.
