I think both paladin and dark knight are equal in terms of range, not sure though because I never look into range. But I know that paladin is better suited for melee, and dark knight is better suited for magic.Also, dark knight has an ability to control monsters as well, to what extent though, I don't know. Also, paladin times out after a while, and dark knight doesn't time out, but you start to gradually lose your hp the longer you stay in it when you hit a certian amount of time. The stat boosts are different too I think. Paladin has a fixed stat rate increase upon transforming, and with dark knight, you can either get good stat increase, a really good stat increase, or a stat decrease. (I'm pretty sure that's how it goes) Additionally, once you walk down the path of dark knight after you get the additional quest after finishing G3 (optional) you can never become a paladin again!

So choose wisely...
