The Paladin guard of Emain Macha have added training and such. That is not the same as the Paladin players you see around.
Those paladins exist because they received the blessing of a god (Morrighan in this case) and a spirit, and have great combat skill as a man. Union of god, spirit, and man working together to make the Paladin warrior.
Dark knights I don't know, but guessing Kitaek has that down right.
