Default Pet Tid Bits

Tidbits with pets.

Just some things I put together. I was bored...

Pets Can Finish, and Should!:
Go into your Options menu and locate this screen in Game -> Etc.

Enable it to make your life easier.
Last "monster" should say "master". *snickers*

Pet Skills Can Be Placed Into The Skills Tab:
Right click your pet and select “View Skills” to access your pet’s skills.

Drag and drop like you would normally for your skills. I recommend using your 2nd skills tab.

You can then manually control your pet this way without having to shout commands.

Pets Can Be Controlled By Using Hotkeys:
Go into your Options Menu then Game -> Controls -> Hotkey Settings
Scroll down and you’ll see some useful things.

I’ve set pet summon, pet return, inventory, sit, and stop commands to my NumPad. So then, with a touch of a button, I can quickly have my pet appear and disappear to aid me in battle! Pushing a certain hotkey will instantly show me my pets inventory!

Have Multiple AIs:
Like so,

Having multiple different AIs makes it easier to transition between changes in battle condition. It’s a good idea to have multiple variation of the same one. My Aggression and Conserv AIs are the same but; one attacks enemies on sight while the other waits for the enemies to attack.

Have the AI Menu Handy:
Like so,

Having it someplace easy to reach will allow you the change AIs in the middle of battle. Just note that, pets need to be summoned in order to have the AIs applied to them. If you know a quicker way, just say so.

Your Pet is Your Teammate:
Have a plan!

As shown here, my pet is going to smash the already dead mimic. That’s okay; the next thing I hit with an Icebolt is history. Alternatively, other AIs I have will set my pet to fight on its own so we can clear mobbed up rooms much faster.

Give Your Pet Roles:
It’s a good idea to know which pet does what, if you have multiple pet. Knowing this will let you quickly change battle tactics without having to switch AI simply by un-summoning your pet and summoning your next pet. Don’t forget to hotkey!!!!!

Your Pet Can Save You From Death!:
Summoning your pet while in grave danger can save your skin. Be sure to have pet summon set to a hotkey!

Here I am being attacked by a Giant Spider while summoning my Aggressive Fox. Summoning a pet, that’ll attack on sight, while an enemy is attacking or chasing is a valuable tactic, especially if the enemy is going to combo. Hotkey folks!

Your Pet’s Time is Limited:
Please do not have your pet out if you’re not doing anything, or if the pet is not shop guarding. If your pet’s time is up, you can’t summon it anymore until the next day IRL. So be wise about your pet’s time. Your pets are now smarter with the new AI system which makes them valuable being out, but don’t let the timer run out!

Don’t Shout At Your Pet:
If you’re still using shout commands, okay then. Just… try not to use it in the middle of battle unless you’re doing so to switch AI, or healing... Making a typo can spell death!

Shifting is Best!:
Holding shift while your pet is active will change the cursor into a (P)Sword. Click the enemy in this state to tell the pet to attack it! Alternatively, you may hold CTRL with the (P)sword as well to auto target.

Lucy! Oh Lucy! (Call to your pet)
Calling to your pet will yield some valuable information.

Just say your pet's name as a command and you'll be given a gist of your pet's condition and it's summon time.

You may add on any other useful tidbits, ask me anything, and/or fix anything.

I'll add new things that I find useful and/or interesting.
