Well, they go back to level 1 and age 1. So the companion bonus becomes buffed up again. And that their skills stay intact. Even though the game and NPC Tin says that it resets, previous screen shots have proven that skills stay intact.
The main reasons to rebirth a pet would be for...
1) Life pets : As they grow older they lose Mana. Since Mana is used for their special skills, soon it becomes difficult to use.
However, this can be countered by just training the pet while it's still young.
2) To move skills from one species into another.
Like take for example the Siberian Husky. The only magic bolt it learns is Firebolt. However, if you took another pet that already learned Icebolt and Lightningbolt and rebirth it into a Husky, then you'd have a Husky that knows all 3 bolts. So you can transfer skills onto pets that normally would not learn it.
This does not apply to special skills like Thunder and Cobweb spinning.
Some notable things are that...- Cats don't learn Firebolt
- Dogs don't learn Icebolt or Lightningbolt
- Snakes don't learn Smash
- Spiders don't learn Counterattack
There's more, but I can't really think of them in my head.
One of things I'm doing is that I've created another Orange Pixie, and on Monday, I'm going to rebirth it into a Siberian Husky.
