I gave up arguing against vista.
Bottom line is most people who don't use their computer for more than just web browsing or non-computer technical work (graphics, design and multimedia or office work), are going to prefer the simple, "we hide everything from you under a flashy GUI" type of OS, such as macs, and now vista which pretty much borrowed from mac.
To illustrate my point, all but 4 people in my graphics design class hated windows, claiming, and strongly believing, that windows could not under any circusmtances run photoshop-like software to do graphics work. I proved them wrong and put their pathetic macs to shame with superior peformance on a 2 year old laptop.
Those who like full access to their system, are going to prefer anything that offers that without having to dismantle the whole OS and disable every default feature. If i were forced to use vista, i'd probably spend a day setting it up and by the time i'm done it would be as close to XP as it could get.
