Dubs can take out the original purpose of the lines. Also since the United States has less air time most of the time dubs turn out horrible. There are some very good dubs though like Digimon in my opinion and Zenki!

as for sub or raw... ill go sub until i start taking japanese. for me, if im reading subs, it may be hard sometimes to focus on the actual show if im busy reading the subs.

For me, Subbed is always better. I watched some dubbed stuff when I was younger, like digimon and DBZ but now I find that most of the anime I like only come subbed anyways, which is actually pretty helpful since it lets me hear more Japanese and see if I can notice the stuff I've learned in class ^^

I'm studying to learn Japanese, so the main reason I watch anime in the first place is to hear the language, so definitly Japanese audio. (Before anyone jumps on me about that being a bad idea, like trying to learn English from Looney Tunes as one person put it, don't. I know the pitfalls, and I know how to avoid them. I also know it DOES help, as long as you are aware that anime characters sometimes talk funny.)

The only exception is Cowboy Bebop. I heard it in English first, and I think it is way better in English.

I don't care who the voice actors are, dubbed sucks. The only dub's I've seen that I have even been able to finish are Miyazaki's.

I would definitely always go for Japanese with subs over English with dubs. The only exception to this would have to be Cowboy Bebop just because I always watched it in English. Also, I think we have a shortage of voice actors, because I always hear the same people whenever I watch English dubbed shows.
