Japanese. Definately. However, the new English Code Geass has a decent dub.

I don't really like dubbed anime, I prefer subbed but really I don't mind at all as long as the English voice overs aren't too annoying.

It actually depends on the anime for me though, some of the dubs are pretty decent, yet some are not as quite. Red Garden for example, their singing scene in the Japanese version was quite decent and felt, yet... let's just say that the english version butchered it XD
But, here's an example of a decent Dub, though the story was changed around a little, it's quite funny: Ghost Stories, Episode 4 Dub http://www.veoh.com/videos/v6928657d3yTntz8 Unfortunately, I can't find the sub, but it's less funnier than this.

I used to watch only dub when I first started watching anime; eventually, I got used to the Japanese language and now I only watch subs and can't stand dubs anymore.

Before this thread dies and thus rots away into the depths of anime hell, I would have say I sub FTW!
For serious. Even Korean VAs are better than "English" dubs. And I've heard some pretty hilarious Korean dubbings. XD Also, English dubs always never FAIL to Americanize the characters in one way or another. That ALWAYS turns me off of anime. IT. NEVER. FAILS. In fact, while I rarely watch anime because of those dubs, for the same reason, I tend to voice the characters myself! From the kids to the girls, you got it. I think American voice actor/actresses just dub with absolutely NO heart because of two things. One: For the money. And two: Because the anime director told them to talk like an emotionless freak. That said, I can safely say the America is getting so much cash outta the only anime and manga crazy that they just don't even give a rat's anus about the customers. ... I wanna read Chun Rang Yhul Jun nows.... ㅠㅅㅠ |
