If you add up the required materials: - 35k - dragon crest blacksmith manual (of course you can make several with one, so it's not 35k added to each one made)
- 7 iron ingots: maybe 10k for this?
- 1 common leather strap: 1 - 2k ?
- 1 fine fabric: i think this is 1k in the shop
- 1 cheap silk: not sure, i sell these 500 each.
- 1 ignot for color, either silver, copper or gold. 2 - 4k depending on rarity of ore and ability to refine.
so the raw materials, excluding the manual since you can make more than one with it, come out to about 18k. Add in some extra for the manual say 10k (being generous here), 28k to make one. Add in a reasonable fee for services/time spent making it and some more for profit, no more than 75k, 100k tops. I would laugh my ass off at anyone charging a dime more.
It would cost more for someone who keeps failing at making it, since you need to reuse all the materials again. However, if the person can't do it in a max of 2 tries, they're not worth investing your money in.

You.. misunderstand how blacksmithing works. Its not 7 ingots to make one, its 7 ingots to have a chance of completing it up to 20%.
It would take on average about 70 ingots or more to make one.
Since according to everyone you cant get pass Rank C blacksmithing, its about 45% chance to succeed each attempt since its a Rank A manual.
Even a failure will provide 3-8% progress, while a success can give you anywhere near 10-25% completion. But big failures lowers your success... if you get lucky you wont need too many materials.

Then just multiply the materials cost i mentioned by 5, not 10 like you said with 70 ingots.
If you're making them with your own materials to sell, you don't factor in the cost of failures otherwise your price will keep rising and end up being ridiculous/not worth it, and people will just move on to someone who either fails less or doesn't count the fail costs.
If someone's giving you the materials + a blacksmith fee, then let them keep bringing materials until you get it.

Of course you count failures, just like if someone keeps bringing materials to try and make it, the failures will add into his cost and time. Should I assume something that has a very low chance of being created, say 20%, only cost the base amount of materials?
You might say, just raise your crafting rank. But what if its not possible to increase it anymore? What if your at rank 1? If something is difficult to make, it should be reflected in the price.
However, if you disagree with this, then thats that. I personally believe failures should be counted. But if someone doesn't, then they can acquire the materials themselves and see how much more effort it takes to make something.

weather i agree or not doesn't really matter o:
it's just how it works. At this moment in the game though, you can probably get away with a 300k DC or things of similar level, since not many people can make them, and resources are more scarce, but try to pull that off when almost everyone in bangor is a blacksmith or miner and you won't be selling very many items, the trick with production skills is to sacrifice maximm profit per item and maximize total sales by having the best price, which can get you more money than just selling a handful of items at a higher price.

I have to agree with Meiya on this one. Smithing takes a lot of time and effort, and a DC is worth far more than 75k. It takes definitely more than 2 tries to make a one- I'd say a DC goes from around 150-250k right now.

DC is expensive... since there is less supply and more demands...

Im on Mari but I see them go for about 150k - 200k. Being a rank c blacksmith myself i doubt i would go less than 150k.
