Alright Mabiguru, help me out here. My iPod is feeling a little empty and so I need some suggestions in terms of new songs to listen to.
It's a bit hard to ask an MMO forum about music though... not to generalize or anything but most of you guys listen to JPop and likes.

So I'll just copy and paste a list of a lot of groups I listen to, to get an idea of my taste in music.

AC/DC, Audioslave, The Beatles, The Black Crowes, Black Sabbath, Bon Jovi, Boston, Buckethead, Deep Purple, Def Leppard, Dio, Dream Theater, Eagles, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Guns N' Roses, Incubus, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Megadeth, Metallica, Michael Jackson, Mötley Crüe, Muse, Nightwish, Nirvana, The Offspring, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Poison, Queen, Rage Against The Machine, The Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, U2, Van Halen, Velvet Revolver, The Who, Wolfmother

I'm pretty much going on a "musical sampling" spree so yeah.

It'd be cool if you guys could post a Youtube of the song.

The Cult's great too, just too lazy too add on my copypasta list.

Since you do have some '60s bands, I recommend getting some Steppenwolf. You know, the band that done Magic Carpet Ride, The Pusher, and their most famous (but not greatest) song, Born to Be Wild. They are a very good band, and seeing as how you have bands like The Who and The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Steppenwolf might be a good band to add to your collection.

For the '70s, you are definitely missing David Bowie. Get David Bowie songs, now. I mean it. David Bowie has one of the greatest voices of all times, and all of his songs are classics. Of course, IMO, I thought that his songs were better during the "Ziggy Stardust" era, and his newer songs are a bit more pop-ish, but I still recommend getting David Bowie.

'80's music seems to be lacking Aerosmith. I might be a little biased about this, saying as how Aerosmith is a New Hampshire band, and I grew up in New Hampshire, and is friends with someone whose dad had Aerosmith play at his prom, but meh, you can't deny that they are a great band given the list of music you gave us.

Of course, you could always get some "Weird" Al Yankovic. True, he may be of a different style than the bands you gave, but he's just too good of a musician to not have at least one song in your playlists.

*Edit: Oh right, you wanted YouTube videos as well.

Steppenwolf "Born to Be Wild":

David Bowie "Space Oddity":

Aerosmith "Walk This Way":

"Weird" Al Yankovic "Virus Alert":

Slipknot. If you like hard rock
Maybe rise against?

Well. my taste in music is what some people call emo...i need new friends...
ANYWAY...It's mostly alt-rock, hard, or metal.
Do you have Death Magnetic?
You could try modern rock, like green day, or The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus..

@Arsik: Mm, Steppenwolf. I don't know much about them outside of Born to be Wild (gets a lot of airtime whenever my aunt/uncle turns on the radio).

David Bowie is the same. Outside of his part in Under Pressure, I don't know much about him. But his voice in "Space Oddity" is really nice, gotta get more of him.

xD Aerosmith. Steven Tyler's voice is amazing as well as Joe Perry's guitar work, but I have to be honest and say Aerosmith is pretty overrated... them being the subject of a Guitar Hero game doesn't help that either (I have a little issue with Neversoft taking over the franchise with Activision).

That being said, Walk This Way and probably Last Child are the only songs I really listen to from them. Know of any of their other hits?

Ah, Weird Al... kinda makes me nostalgic about upper elementary school. Weird Al was my only source of "comedy" But most of the songs he remixes aren't remotely favorable

@Kitae- Muse is delicious.

@Tman- Not into Slipknot vocals... I hear Rise Against is pretty good, but the vid you posted has been removed Dx

And OMG I completely forgot about sampling Death Magnetic. Thanks for reminding me, I'm going to bug my friend for his copy.

Other hits by them are "Dream On" which was their first hit. There is also "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" which is their only No.1 Single to date. They also did a cover of The Beatles "Come Together", and even though The Beatles did a better job on the song, Aerosmith was able to take the song and make it their own, without changing the song completely.

"Dream On":

"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing":

Cover of "Come Together":

And I agree that they didn't deserve their own Guitar Hero game.

I'm going to disagree here. Aerosmith is one of the very, very few bands that has consistently provided hits for several decades...I grew up listening to them in the 80s and they still have great music. The point being that they are truly great artists that can produce albums over the course of many years that consistently score with the public.

As for me, music is my one true love, and I listen to music from *all* genres...so here is a taste of some of my favorites:

Heavy stuff:

Lacuna Coil - Enjoy the Silence (cover-but their originals are great too):

Tool - Lateralus (not music video-just recording with visuals):

Chevelle - I Get It (Some guy put this one to a Halo FMV-I couldn't get the actual music videos to play here in the forums for some reason):
Alternative:

Coldplay - Yellow

Muse - Knights of Cydonia (I know Kitaek already mentioned them but...):

John Mayer - Sucker

Oldies:

Steve Miller Band - Space Cowboy (Done before music videos-this youtube is to star wars figures o_O):

Led Zepplin - Over the Hills and Far Away

Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven (He's one of the greats, too):

R&B/Hip Hop:

Snoop Dog - Gin and Juice (what music collection can be finished w/out Snoop???):

DMX - Slippin':

Ludacris - When We Were Kids:

Boyz II Men - Water Runs Dry:

The Isley Brothers - Contagious (featuring R Kelly):

Country:
Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places (once again-no music collection is complete without it):

Alabama - Dixieland Delight:

Hank Williams Jr. - A Countryboy Can Survive:

This is all just the very puntito del iceberg...maybe someday I'll post *my* IPod playlist(S) on here...that would take a few pages, but I guarantee you that everybody will find something that they'll like. Left out a lot of genres too...just touched the most common ones.

I'm not saying that Aerosmith is bad, and I didn't intend to have it mean that way. What I was trying to say was that there are other bands out there that should have had their own game before Aerosmith. I would much rather get Guitar Heroes if it was all Led Zepplin, or Jimi Hendrix. That way, the youth can know where a lot of today's music originated. Aerosmith, while as I said is a good band, has been making hits through out the decades, so everyone knows who they are. I have seriously come across people my age who don't know who Led Zepplin was.

I get what you're saying...and Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix *are* timeless freaking bands to be sure...but Aerosmith put out more albums than they did and is still around today...hence the endorsement by many areas including the video game world. (Another example would be Aerosmith's Rockin' RollerCoaster at Disney World - it's sweet---goes from 0-60 in like...a second o_O)
