Hi everybody. As some of you may know, come September, I'm selling my soul to Uncle Sam and joining the military. I talked to some recruiters yesterday about which branch of the military I should enlist in. Initially, I planned on enlisting into the Air Force, but in order for me to talk to the Air Force recruiter of Vermont, I have to travel across the State.

The Marines got a hold of me first I listened to the presentation. Then I took a practice exam to see if I should even bother with joining the Marines, (I scored a 58, which is twice as high as a lucky Vermonter Marine). They said that I would be a good Marine, considering I like challenges and need to work for things rather than having it handed to me.

After the Marines, I talked to the Army, (I'm not at all interested in the Navy (severe sea-sickness) or the Nat. Guards (part-time blegh...)). I liked how I can have some general idea on what job I'll do in the Army as compared to the Marines, though it is the easier of the two branches.

My grandfather was in the Marines during WWII, and my dad was in the Army during Viet Nam. My dad really doesn't want me in the Marines, and according to him, my grandfather said to not join the Marines to my dad.

Now, if you can, help me decide which branch to join.

*Note: Not joining the military isn't an option. I kinda slacked on the SATs, so I can't get into the college I want, nor do I have the money for college. Also, if you can, please don't give me the "Choose which ever one you want" reply.

P.S. I'm kinda sad a little bit too. I had my birthday last week, and only 2 and a half people wished me a happy birthday. My dad, one of my sisters, and my mom said that my present from her will be late, (that's why it's 2 and a half)

I'm sorry to hear you didn't do so well on the SAT. I'm thinking joining the marines is one of the best options you have when it comes to the military.

Its my suggestion, though I'm not too knowledgable on the topic. Sorry I can't help more.
