Oh God, What Did I Do?
(I'm not sure if it should be here or in Technical Help since Technical Help seems to be basically Mabinogi related problems, whereas this is more of a serious computer problem)
I have, in lack of any better words, royally ****ed up my computer's operating system.
So anyways, I'm just sitting in my room, thinking about how I get my computer to start working like it did before February. I came up with the idea of down(read: up)grading my Vista to XP. So, as I'm scrolling through the Help and Support guide of my computer to make sure that it will or will not get rid of all of my drivers for accessing the internet, I noticed that I can run two operating systems at once (multibooting). I figured I'll try this out to see if the drivers are mandatory or not.
So as I'm reading the step-by-step guide on how to partition my hard drive, I'm going through the proper procedures needed to do it. (I created a backup disk, just in case something bad happened to my installed programs and such.) Once I finished everything, I checked to make sure it is alright. So now my hard drive has two partitions in it that will let me have XP while still having all of my programs and Vista.
So, now I'm installing XP on the new partition, and when that's done I find out that none of the important drivers came over, so I decided to head back to Vista and restore everything before I made the partition. But when I rebooted my computer, I can't access Vista by pressing F8 and choosing it among the two and going along on my way. In fact, my computer doesn't even acknowledge Vista even being on it.
So I thought I could delete the XP partition, and my Vista OS will show up again, but that didn't work, and now I know that my C: drive actually doesn't have the boot files needed to start up Vista. Which is strange, since before I rebooted to install XP, my C: drive had it's boot files.
So now my question: Should I just reformat my entire computer and have it run XP instead of Vista and lose ALL of my programs, files, music and drivers? Or is there some way for me to hack into the Windows program files and see if there is in fact a hidden folder containing the boot files I need.
Thanks in advanced, Arsik
(Note, that with every computer I have ever had, I have in some way, managed to have to reformat the entire system, and I'm REALLY quite tired of this curse.)
