Well, Vista basic takes up the least ammount of resources to use, mainly because it just barely has enough stuff to be called Vista. As far as I concerned, Vista basic is just a step above Windows Mellenium Edition which almost made me want to buy a mac.

The one thing Vista has going for it, is that once all the crap that's actually wrong with it is taken care of, it should be far superior with computer graphics and video work than anything out there so far. Technically, though in reality it isn't, it should already be doing that right now. Vista also has DirectX 10, which no other system is supposed to have which should allow it to show higher level graphics in premade things made to be viewed with DirectX 10.

@Osayidan - Mac used to be better with graphical programs, but they don't hold a candle anymore... I've used macs and PCs with the same stats (RAM, processors - both the exact same intel chips actually and all that other garbage) and I crashed every mac trying to open a photoshop file... the pc not only opened and allowed me to edit it, but allwed dreamweaver, internet exploreer and firefox to all be used at the same time. Thos epeople who still have that much faith in macs make me feel sad inside - but after using both, Vista is still better than a mac system, though still to close.

It has to do with your IRQs..IRQs..hmm, how to explain.

It's like the priorities your keyboards/mouse,etc get when accessing the memory.
( Had to learn the IRQs when taking a MCSE course )

Try reseating your memory or running memtest and leaving like..only the monitor plugged in..

Wow, and the BSoD is so nostalgic. I haven't gotten a BSoD in a couple years.

EDIT: And seriously, I think Microsoft should've stopped at Windows 2000. It was a great OS. From Windows 2k they just went down-hill.
But if choosing between XP and Vista.
XP> Vista..Unless you have a good setup.
I have a decent setup and I still stick with XP.
