The Death of Strawberry

Strawberry is only 2 months old. I got him in perfect condition for 700 dollars.
We shared many great memories together, but it was short lived. Out of nowhere, last night, Strawberry suffered a massive internal failure and started turning all blue.

Yes, blue. Very blue. Like the blue screen.

Its true. I've had this computer for only 2 months and its already facing serious problems, such as unresponsiveness to commands, mouse, keyboard. Windows started to crash, and it wouldn't reboot itself.

Thanks to the innovating vista technology, you need to launch the log window before you can launch the task manager if explorer freezes/crashes. So relaunching explorer is a no go. Everything else follows and crashes. The Log window crashed, and now we have a terrible situation where I can't even log into my computer.

I got into safe mode, thankfully, and quickly ran a scan of the computer with Avast and a few other very good antivirus programs (don't suggest any, I'm using the best ones around). Nothing really turned up. Whats the problem?

Well, explorer on safe mode crashed too. Now I got a terrible situation where vista won't boot correctly.

Sounds like the case of OPERATING SYSTEM FILE CORRUPTION!!!

Thankfully, I know how to handle these situations, so I pressed F8 at startup, accessed startup repairs. Hoorah! Everything is fine!

Nope. Everything is not fine. Startup repair "can't find anything wrong with the computer". I did a system restore to about 10 days ago, but it made no difference. I tried to see if it was a hardware problem, but I still can't confirm this because the damn computer freezes up when I try to run the scan the computer just freezes up.

Clever and easy easy easy solution: REINSTALL VISTA
Not so awesome factor keeping me from doing so: DON'T HAVE INSTALLATION DISK WITH ME.

Its at home, which is far away. I won't be able to get my hands on it. Looks like I'm stuck with this lab computer, which can only do internet explorer.

I will be extremely unproductive. I won't be able to do many of the things I did before.

Btw, yes, I named my computer Strawberry.

Ah, I remember that screen. Wouldn't let me play Mabinogi because computer kept restarting every minute and that evil screen shows up

Well at least you learned something Cichol, NEVER TRUST VISTAA!!!

Even Bill Gates says it sucks... My friend has a laptop and it has vista and it has major issues with CPU usage and it eats his GB every single day :O

NEVER GET VISSTTTAAA PPL!!

I already know what the problem is, the only thing I can do now is wait for the OS installation disk to show up.

I've known this since the day it came out, but theres no way to buy XP as a part of a computer package set anymore. And I'm not paying 200 dollars for an OS.

Drek has two suggestions:

1. Wait for the OS installation disk and load Vista.

2. AS SOON AS Vista is loaded, find a copy of XP and wipe vista/install XP.

Also, I've seen failing hard drives do the same thing, so if you continue to have problems, you'll probably need a new hard drive :P
