Default Majikaru's Guide to Exploration v 2.0

Exploration, to be released in G4, is an action that enables a player to find objects that are hidden in the continent of Iria, and can also only be used in Iria. It also enables a player to gain 25 AP in addition to AP gained from age and levels, making it a target for many players.

The Basics
First, you will need L-Rods. These can be found in any exploration shop (Alexina in Quella Base Camp, Hugel in Philia, etc.), or from the series of quests given by Ffion, though the L-Rods given by Ffion will not have as much durability as those bought from NPCs. L-Rods look like this:

To use exploration, one does not need to go into their Actions menu and assign exploration to a hotkey, but rather just press X, which is exploration by default.

Finding Hidden Objects

Hidden objects are found all throughout Iria, some places having certain objects unique only to that area, such as the statues one may find, or the rewards from chests, as well as the monsters that may spawn guarding these chests. However, the location of these objects isn't random. Hidden objects will always appear in the exact same area, with maybe a 2-step variation in location.

A chest containing gold and a G7 Courcle relic, one thing that can be found via exploration.

One can find such objects by running around Iria, away from any towns or NPC-populated regions. When you are in the vicinity of a hidden object, you will hear a beeping sound and your L-rods will light up. The frequency and intensity of the beeps indicate how close you are in relation to the object. This is how far away one should explore in relation of the town of Cor:

It's quite a small town, though.

Two soft beeps indicate that you are the farthest you can be while still being in the vicinity of the object
Two loud beeps indicate that you are getting closer to the object, but still relatively far.
Three soft beeps indicate that you are no more than 10 steps away from the hidden object.
Three loud beeps indicate that you are no more than 3 steps away from the hidden object.
Four beeps indicate that you are extremely close to the object and that using the exploration action in your current position will reveal the object.

Leveling Exploration Quickly
Before the release of G5 and G7, the only quick way to level exploration will be with the quest boards, which look like this:

Upon clicking on it, a menu will pop up:

In each row, the name of the quest, the amount of exploration gained upon completing the quest, the level required to do the quest, and the cost of the quest to start it will be listed, respectively. Ignore the last column as it has no significant information to use.
Upon hovering your mouse over the name of a quest, something like this will pop up:

Listed will be a general description of the quest, the place where you can find ____ in blue, as well as the exploration exp reward, gold reward, and normal exp reward.
You may only have one of these active at a time; you will not be able to access the quest board menu until you have finished a previous quest.
If the quest requires sketching a ___, you may not farm sketches of the same animal and camp next to the quest board. The quest only registers the action of you finishing the sketch of the animal, not you having the sketch in your inventory. You may, however, camp next to the quest board if the quest requires you to gather a certain item. These quests ARE repeatable, and can be done as many times as you wish.

More to be added when I have time, for now, please make any comments, what I could improve on, and any mistakes I may have made.

QUICK EXPLORATION LEVELING- G5
Upon the release of G5, elves will be implemented. The lost desert elf quest will be added!

The New L-Rods
In G5, two new types of L-rods will be added. L-rod of the cool-wind fairy, and L-rod of the warm-wind fairy. Cool-wind L-rods decrease the elevation of the land, when the land maker action is used, whereas warm-wind L-rods raise the elevation of the land when land maker action is used. However, these are elf-only items. Ally with the elves first, by talking to Castanea, then talk to Hagel with the L-rods of cool-wind fairy in your inventory. He will modify the L-rods so that humans can equip them. Remember to have at least level 5 exploration, or else he won't modify them!

Finding the Lost Desert Elves

The points of interest would be the "Exp 1500 Lost Elf" and the "Exp 500 Lost Elf" marks. Go to these points. If you hear beeping, use both exploration and land maker action with the L-rods of the cool-wind fairy, because the elves may also be buried underground as well.

When you find the lost elf, who will be trapped inside some sort of box, talk to the elf, and accept the quest.

If you have a 2-player mount, you can get the elf to get on it by right clicking it, and selecting the corresponding option.

Run (or ride) back to Castanea, and talk to her to finish the quest.

Complete the quest to receive your exploration exp, gold, and exp!

QUICK EXPLORATION LEVELING- G6
Unfortunately, there won't be anything in Physis, the Land of the Giants, that will make exploration leveling any faster than rescuing lost elves.

QUICK EXPLORATION LEVELING- G7

Finding Fragments of Relics

Note: BE SURE TO HAVE LOTS OF INVENTORY SPACE!

With your L-rods, run around the town of Cor. If you hear beeps, track the chest down and find it.

Hidden objects in Iria ALWAYS spawn in the exact same spot, so don't be afraid to memorize the spots you find! Chests tend to appear near trees...

And on top of, or near hills.

Pick up the gold and the fragments you find.
As of G9 S2, it appears that chests no longer give gold. This is in JP server, however, and is possibly related to the bot issue in the area finding chests just for the gold.
Here is a map with chest locations! Chests are represented by dots, while statues are represented by squares.

Once your inventory is full, run to the banker (Voight). You can use one of the relics as your cursor if your inventory happens to overflow.

Now it's time to recover your relics!
First, click on the last option, to begin.

Then, click on the first option to partially recover the relics. It is impossible to fail this step.

Then, move on to the second option, to finish the recovery of relics. It is possible to fail during this step.

DO NOT FULLY RECOVER ANY POTS YOU MAY FIND. Once fully recovered, they will become FRAGMENTS of a pot, of which you need five to make a full pot. Because it is possible to fail during recover, it is much more worth it to just turn in the unfinished pot fragments than to waste inventory space and time trying to put together a completed pot.

Finally, using the third option, turn in your relics, and gain exploration exp and gold!

Currently, this is the easiest and fastest (as well as safest- no sketching of desert/plains dragons required...) way to level up exploration.

Hope you like the guide! D:

Ask any questions you may have, and comment!

Nice, very descriptive guide. I'm wondering though, for the quests with the lost elves, is it really annoying without a 2-person mount? I've been wanting to get a 2-seater for a while now, (I hate not being able to give friends rides ><) and this might give me some intensive lol.

It's not TOO tedious, though it might. The high-exploration-exp elves tend to appear quite far in the desert.

Though if you get too annoyed with it, it's probably best to wait until G7, or stick to the quest board.

My personal suggestion is to stick with the fur trade business until you get a 2 person flying mount.

Horses are too slow for the elf quest. Fur trade is probably faster. Though this is an option for people with spare money of course. The bots at my server priced fur at a set of 100 for 30k. The quest prize gave back about 14k, so I spent about 16k each time I bought a set of 100.

Not that I want to support the bots, but at this point its impossible to tell whos the bot or not anymore when like 4 or more shops in channel 1 dunbarten has nothing but stacks of fur in it for 2k each.
