Of the 3 adv spells, I suppose fireball would be the best for warriors/archers since you are always assured of high damage. Plus, with their low manapool, one casting would more than likely drain all their mana and switching to their weapon of choice immediately after casting would not be a problem (since switching out wands would drain all mana regardless).
Thunder, on the other hand, would require a lot of int for magic balance, which warriors/archers would not normally have, in order to maximize thunder damage. The advantage of spamming high rank thunder would also be lost with low mana pool (and the damage is so-so).
Ice spear, may be ok. But the advantage of ice spear is its spammability because of its low charge time. Therefore, it would not be maximized with a low mana pool and casting it multiple times would be limited.
There are ways to go around the drawbacks, of course. But, in my opinion, thunder and ice spear would be better left for those specialized in magic.

If you can reliably spend NX for rebirths, why not? Advanced magic packs more of a punch (even at Novice rank) compared to their bolt counterparts, and can be useful with a party in later dungeons as long as you have enough MP/potions.
It's really up to personal preference though, but seeing as you've called spending AP on Lightning a "waste," you probably don't have to get it at the moment.

Well
I'd say thunder <3
the only reason I say this is because thunder is basically based off critical dmg.
and Also when you rank it you get mana + will.

The biggest issue is that in order to use adv magic you have to have a wand equipped, so your equipment flexibility dies. After that you have to deal with not having the mana to effectively use the magic. At novice rank, 1 charge of fireball isn't going to do anything but make all the monsters very, very angry with you. You're better off whacking them as usual, especially in multi-aggro situations.

I agree with Jasecalde (coz I've worked with him ig before and yea, what he's saying is true)... However, on my own opinion... unless you are a warrior/archer with a bit of magic mixed in you (warrior-mage, archer-mage), maybe its necessary for you to use advanced magic. However it is true that with the use of wands, you will have problems with switching weapons.
But if you're planning to either purify melee or archery, the basic bolts would be enough and is a must for you.

Its tough to say but I would have to say advanced magic is better on a mage
because the main problem is mp and second problem would be wand since you need
to use a wand to use advanced magic plus you are adding a unneccessary wand repair
bill to your character and just like juno said you maybe be asking for death since you
are basically aggroing the whole room and since you have to switch weapons you
will always get a huge mana lost due to switch weapons so magic counter is not possible after a switch. there is just to many cons so stay with this:
warrior: final hit, archer: arrow revolver, mage:advanced magic
I suggest you dont mix them

i would get it just for the fun of it. of course dont use it in difficult dungeons such as runda advance (duh), but it's still fun to use a thunder occasionally in ciar ^^

I do not find it is required at all but as many have said, it is fun, and as you have stated Rikyu, Thunder does add will which is useful for Melee/Combat players. Though, the power levels gained from Thunder or any ADV. Spells might not be recommended until you get R1 WM
