Default Blacksmithing - Success and Profitability?

I was thinking about taking up the blacksmith skill so that can make my own armor (Valencia's Cross Line Plate Armor).

I just have to buy the manual once to make all the specific type of item?
(If I buy a manual for Gladius I can make all the Gladius swords I want)

For people who has taken up blacksmithing how profitable is it?

What is the success rate in making my own armor?

In my opinion blacksmithing is very rewarding but takes either alot of hard work or a lot of money cause we all no getting iron ingots is no fun =/

As to your question you have to buy the manual gather the materials and use it
but you cant use the same manual forever it has a use number under usually 30
and that number goes down once for every use not every completion of the item so once that number reaches 0 you have to obtain a new manual. The success rate for armor depends on your skill rank but the thing is you cant even begin to make armor until you are at least rank A.

You're in for a LONG LONG LONG time's worth of smithing if you want to get good enough to start making valencia's cross line plate armor.

And the price for buying and making isn't too far off either.
You only make about 50k profit when you sell them.

Heh, blacksmithing is very costly and time-consuming (you either have to buy or mine the ingots/ores somehow~.)

A manual has 30 uses. Each use completes a certain % of an item. The ammount completed depends on the item.

For details for each item, see this:
Blacksmith List - Mabinogi World Wiki

The success rate you'll have for each item is dependent on your skill rank and on the rank of the item you're making. I think you can make armor...even if you're rank F. But you're success rate will be....bad.

Let's look at Male Valencia, rank 5. Using the table at the bottom of the page, and assuming a skill rank of F, you'll have a 1% chance of success. Good luck.

But yeah, most people don't try making armor until a decent rank, because it's pretty expensive and it's a waste of money. But getting to that decent rank is difficult in itself.

That's too bad the amount of time and money placed into blacksmithing is not greater or equal to the output.

I was hoping to save some money from making my own armor instead of buying it.

A full set of armor cost close to half a million.

I started blacksmithing to make profits, not worth it.

You can make more money selling raw materials in this game than you can selling finished products.

Raw materials will have an almost unlimited demand, and the more people try ranking skills the more competition there is for the materials, resulting in even more money for you.

Stuff you make will have very small demand. For example when blacksmithing, nothing you make is in demand until you make dragon crests, then if you have good success rates (about 50%) you can make about 40k profit each. After that, it's either keep making dragon crests, or lose money again to keep ranking up until you can make items people want again, like armor or boots.

Right now i just make dragon crests instead, stopped ranking at C and have no plans to keep going once i realized this.

Even when you're rank 1, the items you make will not bring you in much more than if you just sold the raw materials, unless you get rare colors or something, which is a gamble.

You can constantly pump out Dustin Armor sets, that what makes Blacksmiths richer.

But the profit can't come in if you fail or get poor stats on it.

So rank 1 blacksmith, dustin armor sets, nonstop.
Its really good profit, but you have to be good at it too.

Its best if you own your own house when selling these.
