Default Mabinogi Mainstream Storyline... Spoilers

Okay, so I thought I'd try this out, since I haven't really seen many threads focusing on the storyline...

What is everyone's impression of all the Mainstream storylines so far?

Personally I thought G2's was a bit confusing in terms of what the heck Redire was doing and whatever happened to that correspondent of his. It's nice to still see him up and running around in G3 (which I have yet to finish) And I thought it was even nicer that when you talk to him after he reveals his identity to you, every time you talk to him he remembers you and you remember him as such! (yes, an NPC actually remembers me...)

G1 had me feeling very very sorry for Tarlach, and feeling like everything in TNN was epic.

G3 so far has had me squealing during cutscenes, "NOOOOO RUAIRI, NOOOOOO DON'T GO TO THE DARK SIDE!!!"
I feel bad for the guy. I didn't even try to attack him during the G2 scripted battle with him... I kinda unequipped my sword for it even...

So what about everyone else? Did you do anything in particular because of the storyline (aside from the quests of course)

G1 - Forbidden DruidxSuccubus relationships lulz?
G2 - Ruairi Goes Emo?!
G3 - Ruairi goes too emo and dies and dragon says what?

Now... as for my impressions...

G1 - Quite boring, i pretty much skipped every clip scene for the mainstream because it wasnt cool enough for me :3. Only ones i watched were the last 2.

G2 - God dam Price, stay the fux still! >:O

G3 - o_o

G1 was epic. I was really blown away by the pacing and intensity of the plot (with twists!), although the writing was often a let down. It was ever changing in what it asked (except for the running around) and the RPs really showcased the best of the best. Then, just when I thought it was over, TNN pops up. I was lucky enough not to have been severely spoiled so I actually had a bit of a shock in finding it to be...not paradise.

Then came the toughest dungeons I'd ever faced.

I had never seen armored skeletons before but I had just recently bought a bow so I struggled through there with the help of my guildmates. Werewolves were also pretty new to me and pitched in their fair share of trouble. I didn't have windmill so the Lycanthropes were literally impossible without help and on top of that they introduced me to the wonders of Natural Shield. Nothing is quite as intimidating as having your arrows bounce off of an enemy that heals after most combos, assuming he doesn't reverse the flow mid-combo.

Then came silver. I had somehow passed through green without seeing any gargoyles, but they came in droves here. An enemy who one-shot me, could cast magic and was just plain scary. Not to mention their loose interpretation of 1v1 etiquette. After somehow clearing that, I'm told there's a 6 floor compilation of everything I just went through and at the end is an amazingly huge beast with lasers of all things.

I was so worn out after finishing I probably wasn't able to fully appreciate the ending cinematic, but even then I was impressed. The title I've never used and I gave the enchant away...but just going through it was worth every minute.

G2 never did measure up to it's predecessor. In fact, it can best be described as that annoying ordeal one must face before becoming a paladin. Tracking down Price and running from the corners of Erinn far outweighed the tidbits of story I recieved in between. The dungeons were largely uninteresting and the cutscenes did little to remedy the problem. The one plot twist was great and the story picked up after that, but overall the experience was painful.

The final battle in which you finally gain your paladin form was nice, but since it doesn't last for the whole battle you kind of feel like you're just being mocked. Anyway that's overshadowed by the obvious high point of G2, playing as a wolf.

I won't even start on the Ideal Quest here...there should really be an option to just throw rocks at her until she submits...

G3 scares me. I got to the first of the broken statue dungeons then agreed to help a guildmate out in baol final (yeah i got a late start .-.). It took us 11 hours to do it. I was lagging the whole time but it wouldn't have helped much if i wasn't. 5 floors of horrendously strong enemies and merciless multi-aggro (I still didn't have windmill at this point). Then, upon finally reaching the boss, it turns out to be some huge dragon who uses some ancient form of lasers and has a fireball that hits the entire room...

Somewhere near the end of that battle I DCd (thanks windows updates!) but they managed to finish it (not like i was helping much). I immediately stopped my own G3 after that, until it becomes easier. The last baol run I did was more like 4 hours and far less fatal and the boss seemed kinda easy...but I'm not taking chances...

G1 has all the aspects of a well written story put into the format of a video game.
It was, indeed, EPIC. And of course. Glas may have been one of the better endbosses I have fought throughout the many many video games I have played. Though the gargs got annoying, and the goddess scrolls made it uber cheap.

G2 never did match up with G1. Honestly, it felt more like a side quest that occured in between G1 and G3. Nevertheless, Price is an AWESOME character, and Esras's secret plan building up to matching with the fomor's plans in G3... was really necessary. Also, the end boss, the golem, was pretty cool too. Not as cool as I would've hoped. But cool.

G3, as if Price wasn't cool enough as he already was, he goes off and slaughters an army of goblins and then saves you from death by Cichol. How awesome is he? The stroyline comes to a dramatic, yet satisfying conclusion. If the dragon wasn't overused in future generations, this boss would've been cooler. The only real downside was Baol Infiltration's favoritism for archers, as many of us mages got screwed over big time.

I won't spoil the story for G8 and G9, but honestly? LAME.
It didn't match up with G1~G3. It had a plot, it had an awesome awesome end boss, it had the drama, it had improved cutscenes, but it just didn't have that feeling.

And those of you who heard there was a mini story for G7? Its not really a story but a series of quests that has you investigating some ruins.
