Wiki Styles?
I thought that we should think of this now since we were going to sooner or later...
Alright, its been a while since OB came out, we gotta start working on wiki now but we still have a problem...

No one reads the discussions since this is fairly new, and there's a problem...
How will we separate items? There are many possibilities, but what would you think about this
Many other things can be added or removed as well...that's the trouble. Is it more organized to have many subcategories or less subcategories? It's better to decide now because it's going to be tough when we edit a lot of items in the game and have to re-edit them.

how will we separate them? o.o any suggestions for items/monsters/equips/quests/etc?
i dont really have any ideas besides charts for pretty much with info.. such as charts for monsters with pic, exp, name, etc, etc... o.o

The way I've got it imagined is that each item gets it's own page. The page should contain the contextual item descriptions, the item effects, how much the item sells for to NPCs, where to buy the item (if possible), what monsters drop the item, what quests use the item (or, more generally, what the item is typically used for, crafting, etc).
All of the item pages are linked into a tree of categories which essentially act as filters. Category:Items should act as the "master index" of all items. It should additionally contain subcategories like Category:Weapons and Category:Food which contain the appropriate item articles in addition to further subcategories (ie, Category:Swords). This way, an easily browsable hierarchical structure can easily be maintained which contains all of the items.
Monsters are a little tricky, since there are only a few archetypes from which the rest derive. I think they have different drops though, so that alone warrents a separate page for each monster. The monster's pages should include a picture of the monster, a short description (it would be great if there were some kind of monster library in-game with nice tidbits of text on them, but that's a longshot), what items the monsters drop, what skills the monsters use, where the monsters can be found, how much exp they give, and potentially strategies to kill them.
The strategies part is a potential nightmare because it's highly opinion-based. It might be better to put that kind of information on the talk page and leave the article only for purely factual stuff.
I really haven't given much thought to quests, since bellynn was working on the part-time stuff (I guess he stopped bothering with it though?). My plan would be the same as always - an article for each quest, then divide into categories to create multiple hierarchical views of the article set. Some of the quests (ie, the random owl ones) are going to be kind of tricky, since there are multiple quests with the same name that can be acquired in different ways. We'll figure something out.
Eventually, the entire wiki should form a beautiful hierarchical tree, with the main page as the trunk, branching out from categories into articles, such that a user can easily locate any piece of information starting from the front page, and gradually narrowing down their search. Ultimately, this probably means a lot of "short" articles since gathering the raw information is really time consuming, but getting the overall structure down is key. Without structure, data is useless.

Well I have been doing lots of Weapons, Armor, and other things on the Wiki, and I would suggest doing it like this.
First have your Category. Lets say its Weapons...
Then we will have Classes like the ones setup now.
Next we have original version of each Item like I have been updating.
Then possibly have another part for Enchants, Upgrades ect. Meaning have Name of Enchant, Rank, Name it adds to a weapon, what it does, then where you get it from maybe?
Most weapons say (Original) on it meaning it is the original stats... Self explanatory.
So you can easily tell a part items like that.
Now for quests I would defiantly do the by Area / Town.
Break up Group Quest, normal quest, and hunting quests into there own sections for sure to keep it easy to maintain.
So really I would just suggest go with the category / subcategory idea, but do it in a orderly fashion, grouping things ect.

I'm going to again reference the FFXI wiki as a good organizational method for the strategy issue.
I suggest each dungeon/boss page have a link at the bottom titled "Common strategies for this dungeon" which leads to a separate strategy page.
An example:
Royal Jelly (BCNM) - FFXIclopedia - a Wikia Gaming wiki

id just like to know first if all the prefixes are avaible on every weapon, if not, we'll had to add what weapon as well, which IMO, would be better if it was on the same page as the weapon.

AFAIK, any enchant will work on any equipable item.

Yep, you can put those on anything too with a couple of extra steps. If you've got the Enchant skill, a Mana Herb and a Holy Water you can try producing enchant scrolls by burning. A successful burn will produce a brand spanking new Hamster Hunter (or whatever was on the item) scroll which you can then slap on any weapon or armor you want.

If you're going to make an index, you might as well sort it by ranking and then alphabetically.
