To summarize, a 16 yr old boy hacked through Nexon's security system and had charged 36,000,000 Nexon points to his account.

The boy complained to the officials that he wanted this special clothes that could only be obtained by purchasing a box from the game shop, but he wasn't lucky enough to get the cloth he wanted from the "random award" system. (I think he was pissed at the ridiculous amount of money he's spent and not getting what he wanted so he decided to hack enough points to make sure he could get that clothes...)

This reminded me of an article last year in Japan that a male user sued the gaming company from wasting him over 10,000 dollars on this "randomly produced cash item". After spending his entire savings, he was still not able to get that 1 item....

Moral of this thread: Be careful with what you're spending on... don't get involved in gambling your luck!

D: Wow...that's insane. If I wanted a specific random cash shop item that badly, I'd just save my ingame money and get it that way, if it's tradeable. If not, I'd probably just buy one of the random boxes it came in, if the other random items were decent. Only one though. :x

The kid should be tossed in jail for a few years to teach him a lesson. He wants to do a crime, he better do the time. Especially when that crime could of hurt Nexon's income. I can respect his knowledge of hacking, but I don't respect it when the hacking someone does could potentially hurt someone else.

Just because it's a screen shot of Mabinogi, doesn't mean he hacked Mabinogi. :P It's just a screen shot of one of Nexon's many hosted games.

Anyway. If you're going to hack something, why don't you be MORE obvious... Sheesh. 36 million? That's pretty stupid right there. I understand his plight, though. Randomly generated item boxes are just a money sink for companies and it's not fair for the user, in my opinion. ~_~

If it's anything, I spent quite a penny on the Gachapon in Maple Story. Whew.. I eventually did get the item I wanted, but still! My moneyyyy!
I eventually stopped playing MS and started saving up again. That's a good thing! xD But I still won't forget how I spent so much on MS. /sob.

I somewhat understand why he would do it, but that doesn't make it right. It probably could have been prevented if Nexon had a system where you could actually buy something you wanted with money, and I mean in-game items. I gather that this kid hacked Nexon for MapleStory. At least, that would seem the most logical to me because that's what they get the majority of their money from.
