Wow, just wow. I'm always hearing about fights, murders, crap like that. To think 3rd graders plotted to kill their teachers... The youth of today is really messed up. I'm young as well, but I'm not going to go and take a knife to someone just because they push me or something. I mean, just yesterday I heard that a fight broke out between two seventh grade girls. One of them took the other girl's face and slammed it against the lunch tables until blood was all over, and when the teacher restrained her, she elbow'd him and ran after the other girl, who tried to escape from her.

This generation is raised on violence, and the parents are too lenient. I'm scared to see how these children will be when they grow older.

Know whats even scarier? Thinking of what THEIR kids are going to be like. o__o Then again, maybe it isn't fair to think that how people act when they're young means they're automatically going to pass it on to their kids.
It's still kind of scary to think about.

@ The OP: I'm not sure whether to be impressed by the detail they thought it out in, disturbed, or a little of both. These are THIRD graders?

So we should go back to the times when kids were beaten for the smallest thing right? I mean TOTALLY, because that's SO much better. Parents usually aren't too lenient, people think that being strict works, it does in some cases, but most of the time it's going to have more bad long term effects than good. Also, I think free will is real important, even for kids, to a certain extent, being too strict removes all free will...
Ah crap.. I double posted... woops =[.

I didn't say that, now did I? Both of those are two sides of extreme, what you need is for them to have free will, as long as they are taught wrong from right, what they can't do or can't, etc.

Who doesn't have "free will"? Ultimately, everyone has the final say on their decision making process.

Even with the beating, the children still have free will. Just because beating is "discouraged" doesn't mean punishment for doing something wrong is removed. Beating someone isn't the only form of punishment. Just like physical rewards isn't the only rewards for doing something good.

Both ways are two ways of behavior modification.

They are probably taught what is wrong, and what is right. However, obviously, they haven't learned it yet.
It would seem like they don't know what it means to murder someone.

It is easy to blame the parents, but other people are (and can) be considered to be a factor as well. Children spend most of the their time in the weekdays at school, and they (usually) learn far more things from their peers (and people in school) than from the parents during that age.

This is especially true if their parents spends most of their time working.
