I saw this on global.
Homework is actually useless for anyone under 6th grade, University of Ottawa researchers say. Also, a new law in Ottawa says they can't give out homework on holidays.

Homework's kinda useless period. It's supposed to teach "Dilligence" to prepare people for college (Where homework is unavoidable), but seriously, they don't need to start giving homework until 9th grade. And perhaps not call it 'homework'. Just say "This assignment must be done and on my desk by xx". Easy as that. The word itself drives kids insane, so....Go around it.

Gotta love how they come up with these things when it's too late for me to care.
Like now they made the ending time for elementary school in montreal about 40 minutes earlier after i graduated, and did the same for high school D:

Yeah, it may seem useless to some students, but they couldn't possibly expect this to be applicable to all students.

Frankly I think homework was beneficial to me when I was still doing it (I didn't do any homework since highschool

) Helped me quite a bit to understand concepts better. It excercised my brain quite a bit. They need to do more research on this things.

Homework actually helps a lot. If you decide to go to University, you'll be in a situation where not many assignments are given, and attending classes is made optional.

Supplementary problems are always assigned, but as gamers, "we" usually wouldn't choose to do them

Therefore, it is beneficial to have homework at younger ages. It cannot be deemed useless. It helps time management and gives children a role to play in the household. Everyone has work to do, and it lets the kids know that their role in the family is to study and have a bright future (to return the favour to their parents).

Think about it sometimes; think about what your parents have done for you. No matter how bad you think they treat you sometimes, where would you be without them? Afterall, (I hope) they are there to provide you with shelter, food, clothes, and probably this internet connection too.

The best way to return the favour to your parents that love you, is to "upgrade" yourself. They invest all this time, money and effort into you for your good. Doing good in school is important to show your parents that their effort wasn't wasted, and doing homework not only helps you in the long run, but also in the short run - it gives your parents the illusion that their son/daughter is a hard worker, making their days more enjoyable.
