In the case of the Black Hole, something needs to be faster than the speed of light, which isn't really possible. (At least scientist don't know it yet)

I believe they are reffered to as tachyons, though they are not at all testable and if you follow strict rules in physics, not scientific in principle. They are however used in many calculations, usually as an unstable factor.

I personally doubt they will be able to make any black holes with the machine, and from my understanding it was made with hopes of being able to observe so smaller than an atom particle that supposedly has no mass creates objects with mass...

And most black holes are incredibly tiny to begin with, all that sci-fi stuff about getting sucked into one and having to find a way out is complete crap. Although, it is very enjoyable crap most of the time, for a black hole to callapse due to small size, it would have to be incredibly small since a black hole created out of the materials of a star is no larger than a head of a pin at most.

As for what I expect out of this, we will all be here on the 11th and after a couple posts here we will forget all about this thread. If we aren't here, then I was wrong and it really doesn't matter since no one would be able to point that out. So, I hope to see you all on the site at that point, and if soome unkown error occurs and the machine blows up and takes part or all of europe with it, I will miss those of you who live around there.

id like to say that while the black holes are too tiny to suck up more than a few molecules before disappearing, there is a chance that, if the fundamental vacuum state of our universe is not perfectly stable, it could implode when the LHC is turned on. granted, there is something like a one-in-a-googol chance of that. but it is still fun to speculate.

Well, as for the life span of the planet... once earth becomes Core-frozen the magnetic field will dissipate and the atmosphere will be burned off by unshielded solar radiation and we'll all die anyway. So maybe the zerg rush will just be faster and less drawn-out (and therefore better) end. xD

Flame throwers are our best option against those dang zerglings.
With the weak guns we have now, unless we pull out flame throwers and tanks, we can't even beat a zerg rush.

Better launch all those nukes.

They've actuallyed delayed the project by quite a bit. It should've launched May this year.

If the events of Half Life repeat, where portals to aliens open up in random parts of the planet including in our own homes, we're all screwed.

But I'm thinking if anything, it'd be just a recontruction of the protons in the table of elements, practically destroying the whole universe and recreating it.

I even talked about it on the forums, which went completely ignored.

"Why would anyone make a black hole" was a response by people who were in disbelief of what I said.

Of course, I guess I can say you can half agree, because I'm really taking this entire issue as a joke.

I'm just making things dramatic to make life a bit more exciting, I don't believe it will really kill us all (like they said, the chances are so small that its not really anything to worry about). Its fun to say it will though.
