How to get very GOOD or BAD results?
I seem to be stuck leveling my playing ability because in order to get more points, I need exceptional performances, either very bad, or very good. Unfortunately, no matter how awful it sounds to me, the "music god" almost always tells me it wasn't bad. And I haven't SEEN a "great" performance this level at all.
My instrument playing and composing are both level E. I even tried removing a title to lower my int down, to increase failure rate, but that hasn't done it. I think my int at this point is to low to achieve greatness.
Can anyone point me to some higher level music I'm bound to fail at? I promise I'll play FAR away from you
Thanks in advance

I think it's optional, you just don't get the proficiency bonus if you don't do those. You can still level up, and apparently the bonus isn't that great either.
I can't get a the highest level of performance either, I just gave up and leveled.
Playing easy music doesn't help because it says "this is to easy for you" I forgot what level I'm in though, and I'm too lazy to check. I know my composing is one level below my playing that's why songs I write myself is "too easy", Default songs are never "too easy" though, so I use those.

playing awfully
Thanks...I was actually having trouble making the minimum to level, but I managed to squawk out a few real earsores today, to just barely edge it in. I'd prefer to be able to aim for *good* performances, though, the bad ones are purely painful.

From experience, it seems like playing any composition of rank lower than (or possibly equal to, as well) your current playing will never give you a "very good" performance. So if you have rank C playing (like me), then rank D compositions won't help. That's where Music Theory comes in

If you play with no score equipped, you will, to my knowledge, always be playing within a few ranks of your current playing rank. The actual range I assume might be off, but I think the concept is right...
So say you're rank D, the scoreless music you play will always be from say, rank F to rank B. Then you play and see what the result is. If the result says it's too easy, just try to remember that song and stop yourself whenever you play it. If you get the desired results, also make a note of it, but always let yourself play that song.
If I'm incorrect, please correct me. :3

I know that if you want to fail certain life related skills you could do so easily by burning/enchanting a bunch of scarecrow enchants that those scarecrows drop when you whack them.

Please, tell me his IGN that way I CAN FLAME HIM! I remember hearing this being played by every idiot and this has got to be one of the WORST MML's i've heard. It makes me twitch with hatred EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS CRAPPY MML.
IN FACT, IN LIGHT OF THIS... I WILL TRY TO MAKE A SIMPLE RANK F MARIO SONG RIGHT NOW, TO PUT THIS THING DOWN FOR GOOD. I will post it later.
Just got back after 30 minutes and since nobody posted, just editing. here's the song. Nothing special. Quick Mario song. didn't really try. Practice rank. 30 minutes of Crap work, and I feel I did way better then him. He needs to learn how to make songs right, or not make them at all.
