Default Tips for writing a song into MML format?

Mmm...I've been thinking about translating a song into a format that will be playable in Mabinogi but...I really don't know how to do this. I've tried converting it from mp3 to midi but it turned out to be a mess so...I'll prolly write it from scratch.

What programs should I use (preferably mac programs but I can use windows too)?
For the melody, it should be the guitar right? What about for chord 1 and chord 2? Would it be the vocals? I'm...really new to all of this >_<

Here's the song I'm interested in working on..Pachuca Sunrise by Minus the Bear

That's a cool song. Melody would probably be guitar, and I'd use Chord 1 for voice and chord 2 for bass. How do you transpose? By ear or do you have sheet music for it?

I've found the guitar tabs but...I dont play a guitar so I don't know how to read it >_<

Most likely I'll have to try to do it by ear..

Wow... Good luck to you. I'm still a beginner when it comes to playing by ear. I'm learning though!

I love that song. They play it all the time at my work.

Btw, does anyone know how much of a difference changing the volume of notes does? I'm thinking of doing that for the beginning part when the notes are like fading in and out.

I think I hear what you're talking about... before the vocals, right? Every time the bass notes stop, the lead kinda fades too... good ear. ^_^

The only way to really know how much it'll change is to try it for yourself and expiriment a bit.
