Music Difficulty?

Every song I've tried to make so far comes up as "Difficulty : Drawing".... without exception. I've tried making the three rows match in terms of duration. I've tried extending the duration of the entire piece. I've tried complicated pieces. Always "Drawing".

How am I supposed to make music of higher difficulty?

My nub-Bard has the highest rank of Composition possible currently.... and NO music theory. v_v;

How do you even get Music Theory without spending an absolute fortune on the book?

do a bunch of bookshop part timers and talk to her a lot especially about skills and give her a lot of anthology books and she eventually give it to you for free.

The fastest way I know of is to fill your inventory with "Anthology"s from the Dunbarton General shop for 150 gold each, go back and give them all to her. After You give her about 13 of them (You'll need more than one trip), Talk to her and click "Skills" after every new anthology you give her. After you give her a total of about 15-22 of them, she'll give you the book. That'll give you the rank F book. You can buy the books for E and D from her afterwards.

All takes about 15 minutes.

But you do the part time jobs and stuff. I mean you can get it done faster just by giving her anthologies. I've never ever gotten it under 10, my average is about 14.

I used Small Flower Pots instead.
Used 10 of them on her. It did the job nicely.
Weedled the manual out of her with my main and will hand it over to my Bard soon enough.
And we'll see if that makes a difference.
