Default Invest in a Claymore

I have 160k saved up and I'm thinking of buying a better weapon. I could find decent claymores from sellers or buy it from Bangor. My only Concern is repairs. Edern or Nerys.

I bought my one 2months ago, and it reached 3/3 durability, repair it wherever you want, but NEVER in Ferghus!! (i sold it for 10k to a noob :P)

In some time, you will get a quest "Kill 1 Ogre Warrior", and as reward, you will get a 2H Sword, 8HW and 50k Exp-- I don't know when, but you have to do the other hunt quests.

I'm not planning to do any serious upgrades, just a extra weapon thats stronger.

I don't know the repair fees(Nerys) and I'm not walking to bangor

Hmm the only problem that I saw with a claymore were the outrageous repair fees (in my opinion) and the fact that you may lack a bit in defence because of no shield but if you have enough money to cover the repair cost and if you are able to take a hit without a shield go for it.

Nerys on a sunndy day with your item blessed.
Repair one point at a time, and if she fails, bless it again.

Its safe enough.

Wait a second... You don't lose Durability if your weapon is blessed?

Not if you repair the item one point at a time. You can still lose durabilty by failing to enchant the item though, so the blessing only goes so far.

NPCs can still fail even when repairing a blessed item, but repairing one point at a time is safer in the long run. If you do a complete repair on a fresh claymore with 0 durability, that's 13 repairs during any of which the NPC can fail (which removes the blessing). Any repairs after that are made WITHOUT the blessing, making additional failures more likely.

And repairing during the daytime really makes a difference? I thought that was just a myth similar to all those people who swear by making your luck as high as possible when repairing.

You do lose dur if the item is blessed, I think the idea between 1 point at a time is that if he fails the first point, you can rebless before the next.

Also, without a doubt, if you don't intend to upgrade and enchant use Ferghus. He is very affordable, the weapon will still last you a couple of weeks most likely (even a 5 dur clay is useful if you have a back-up weapon) and will save you tons of money you can use to buy a new one.
