I've been studying about mabinogi before I get back on later this week and from what I've looked up there are advanced spells you can use without a wand. If there are can someone tell me what they are?

you need 2 - 1 handed swords in each hand :P

if you mean magic its icebolt, lightning bolt, firebolt and heal
you need a wand for party heal, ice spear, thunder, and fireball

There are four advanced magics to use (Fireball, Thunder, Ice Spear, Party Healing) that all require a wand. Later on (1+ years) we might get Alchemy, which employs a hand cannon like device that emulates many of the spells and advanced spells.

Ice Spear, Thunder, Fireball and Party Healing (Not Released) all require wands, if I'm correct anyways.

Unless there's another spell I've never heard of, then that's pretty much the whole reason to ever own a wand.

Actually, to use alchemy, you actually need a crystal which you load into a cylinder to blast out.

To create a crystal for an advanced magic, you actually need several ingredients PLUS the actual charging of the advanced magic.

This means when you create a crystal for thunder (for example), you need to actually charge thunder on the spot.

This pretty much means, you still need your wand to use it. Its like casting it while you're in town so you can use it later without using mana in combat.

I thought alchemy was just a weaker version of the spells to allow those who don't want to raise those skills to use their benefits with a large drop in the skills actual power as compensation.
