A lil Question about Fishing

So I was wondering guys, since I've never gone beyond rank F fishing...
Will a higher rank fishing help me get less of these useless party hunting quests and more useful items?

Or does it only let me catch "bigger fish"?
Other than for cooking, "bigger fish" seems pretty useless to me.

Well, there is a title "The King of Fishing" that can only be caught by catching a certain fish over a certain size at Tir. And it probably ups the chances of getting rarer items. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Raising Fishing will increase the chance of something getting hooked. The chance of it being caught when AFK fishing doesn't increase or decrese even though the Fishing Rank may be higher.

What I believe will increase the chance of it being caught would be Production Mastery. Ranking it should increase the chance of something being caught if you're AFKfishing.

I have to say this is only from experience though.

Well, that much doesn't really matter to me since I usually go through all 300 baits by the time I'm awake.

I just wanted to know what raises my chances at a better item.

Thanks for the info though, never knew production mastery could/might do something to fishing.

With afk fishing i don't think anything raises the actual chance at what you get, just the chance of actually getting something instead of failing.
Some people get good stuff at rank F while high ranked people get junk (followed by being pissed off that they wasted AP).

I went from rank F to A just AFK fishing, and never got a single item that could be sellable to a player, while rank F's around me doing manual were getting equipment on a regular basis.

So i'd say just leave it at F and hope for good luck o.o

yeah rising fishing is good for non afk fishing or a little quicks afks (like 1 hour and stuff not sleep ^^ )

# Increasing skill rank will decrease time in-between successive Hits, increase auto-fishing success percentage, and result in an increased chance to catch larger fish.
# Skill rank does not affect the rate of obtaining rare items.

I've noticed that as my Fishing rank increases, the Bait Tin runs out quicker than usual. I usually get to AFK and watch anime for 3 hours. But now it barely lasts 2 hours. And my inventory is full by 40 minutes. I liked Fishing for something to do while AFK. But at higher ranks I get to AFK for only around 30 minutes.

You'll still catch a lot of garbage, regardless of ranks in fishing, production mastery or luck.

My main account (at 59 luck, rank B fishing and 8 prod mastery),currently does no worse in the "rares" than the alt I made just for fishing (with 71 luck, rank 6 fishing and rank 7 prod mastery).

When it first came out and everyone it seemed was fishing Tir pond, it seemed the rares came more often. Now? Very slow, and lots of scrolls.

I've effectively given it up.
