My clay is at 11 right now
so one more screw up, and there's no more spirits for it
Does anybody have any tips on how to preserve the durability
and raise the proficiency higher but faster

Always keep it blessed, to improve your repair rate and so you lose dura slower. If you have enough money and want it bad enuff, repair at edern X_x

Most claymore ego users regret making claymores (like myself) because two handed sword is better in damage.
But if you really must have it...

I repaired at Edern and Elen for all my 100 prof stuff o.o
This is what I did

• I had my items blessed
• I only did 1 point repairs
• I had the Lucky "(Insert Gender)" title on
• Before each 1 point repair, I gifted 1g at a time

The steps I took really seems extreme but it worked for me, my friends, and my sister. So give it a try.

These steps do not guarantee a 100 percent repair rate but it close

Use a 25 year + character, with the item blessed, and beat up monsters. You shouldn't need more than 2 or 3 repairs to go from 0 to 100 prof, and keep in mind you can ego the claymore with any dura amount so long as the max dura is 80%.
