For #8, later on you will have a "Exploration Level" which is gained through other methods such as the Action skill "Sketch" which will also give you AP as you lvl it.

How do I get this skill and train it?

i believe Action Skills wont be released til G4, were only on G3S1 so it'll be a while.

As for obtaining some of the many Action Skills, i do not know seeing as how this is the only version i've played.

As for leveling Exploration, i'm assuming you use the skill successfully, such as Sketch allows you to draw monsters and such on paper and you gain exp... or so i hear....

Okay, so it will probably be here around Christmas then. Bummer that it's not coming out soon but it sounds neat.

Just to add on to Paladin's answer, Eavan in Dunbarton definitely sells the brown town rat scrolls, as that's where I always get mine.
