Getting A Pet
Well, I just got 25000 points of Nexon cash and I would like to get a pet. I don't want to get completely hooked on the game by getting a service so I figure it's a choice between a pet or rebirth. I really want the mini bear but the herb pig also looks promising. Can someone explain how pets work and which ones are among the top rated overall?

Alright, I'll stick with the bear idea then since I don't really have the extra space for the herbs anyways.

For combat mini bear is very strong melee. Not so good on magic, only gets lightning i think.
Herb pig is a weakling, useless thing for combat. Awesome for collecting herbs (and selling them to me if you're on ruairi *hint* ).
You can check all the pets on wiki in terms of stats, skills and abilities.
The way they work is you buy the pet card, make the pet like a character (except no appearance options), log on and summon it. You can also log on and play as the pet. Either way uses up summon time. When the summon time runs out you can;t use it until the next day in real life. But the pet is yours forever, never have to buy it again.
edit: for the pig, anyone saying it gets useless when it ages is someone too lazy to level it up. If you gain it at least 20ish levels before it ages up to 2 years, you don't need to worry.

Okay, so if I log in on my pet, I can train its skills?

Yes, you can train your pet easier by logging on as it, but for the herb pig...it's very hard because it never learns smash.

you don't need to log-in on it if you'd rather train it while leveling up yourself, which is what I do. It automatically levels up skills as it levels up so you don't need to concern yourself with the pet really :P.
I'd recommend the bear from the pets out at the moment, the bear is quite a deal. At level 30 it can smashe metal skeletons in one hit .... it's stronger than me -.-.
Just a tip, when you want to control it in battle shift"clicking on the monster will make the pet attack it.

I bought the bear. And he rules!!! I logged in on him for about 20 minutes and trained him up a little. Man is he strong; he beats down on wolves like it's nothing.
And you're right, the bear was an excellent deal.

Honestly, I like cats, specifically the Orange Pixie. He was really easy to level, got him to 15 now, and he's pretty good on melee and magic. He knows lightningbolt and icebolt, and he's capable of counter and smash.
But bears are pretty dang powerful too. Their melee ability owns.
