ixiedin's Encyclopedia of Foods V.G1
Welcome! I am ixiedin, the master editor of this giant block of useful text. This encyclopedia exists for its sole purpose to inform others about the beauties and cautions of cooking and useful references for all you cooks and restauranteers and eaters and all the other important characters out there. Hopefully, it will also inspire some of you into the field of cooking.
I do know that there are already two collections of recipes: Inuri's and Enchantedstargazer's . But I've found, and as Inuri has said himself, some of the recipes to be old or incorrect. Therefore, I decided to update the whole database of recipes in Mabiguru and give you the best tips that I've read and tested out myself through crawling the web and during my entire chef career. Feel free to go back and look into our old recipe books however, like I still often do and find it still very useful.
The reason this is called V.G1 because... it's only on foods that are available
during Generation 1. Keep in mind, however, that I will update this as frequently as Nexon updates its generations, usually within the the week it is released and days if I have time on my hands.
This encyclopedia has 4 main sections. The Tips and FAQ section, Recipe (Mixing, Baking, Simmering, Kneading, Boiling, Noodle-making/Deep-frying, Stir-frying and Pasta-making) section, Raw Materials Section, and the Cut-Scene Section.
All the information, unless marked, is copied from sections of ?11?àRao¤?a??? and D????DD?ê×ò3_D?à?í?. Give credit to them if you can, and not me.
If you have any suggestions, corrections, additions, or any other constructive criticisms/comments that I choose to use in my Encyclopedia, I will include and honor you in the Thank You and Credits column within each section.
********************Tips and FAQ******************
NOTE: If you are lazy like me and hate reading through walls of text, just skim and focus on the bolded phrases. The words by them are just attempts to make reading more fun for you.
Please read this section carefully even if you don't have a question in mind. It might provide important info that is critical to your cooking career (like it did to mine).
The Thank You and Credit column is in parenthesis at the end of the tips of the rightful owner.
TIPS:
1. Not all 5-star dishes are created equal.(Tofucakee and I)
Yep, you heard/saw me right. Remember those thrilling and exciting times that you see the system tell you that you need 0-10(or more)% of blah blah blah ingredients but still found a neat 5-star dish sitting quietly in your inventory? Also, remember those not-so-surprising times when you find the same looking thing with the same descriptions after the system has told you that you have prepared a tempting dish without any further annoying comments? Well, your happy moments are over.
Once you eat them, the commentless one will tend to give you a more satisfying stat boost and sometimes (gasp) give you a unique cut-scene that the commented one will not be able to provide, or even worse, no cut-scenes at all at certain dish types. For a complete list of cut-scenes that can occur, please visit the Cut-Scene section. We call the commentless one a Perfect 5-star and the commented one a Regular 5-star.(Yeah I made those up)
Rest assured, greedy Restaurant owners, your clients(and you) cannot tell the difference between the two once they're made (until they eat them, that is). For those kinder-hearted ones, remember to separate them apart neatly in your inventory or send a note to yourself reminding the different dishes to avoid customers complaining to you about not getting their favorite cut-scenes.
2. Not all recipes are created equal.(I)
There are different levels of difficulty for each dish[/b], even if they can be made at the same level of the cooking skill.
Remember those good old times when you can just seem to cook every single cheese bread a perfect 5-star? Those moments are getting rarer as the difficulty of new dishes rise to sky-high levels (seriously, 86-87%?!). Worse, there are some dishes (please gasp again) that is simply not possible to be made a five-star. EVER. Such as the Fried Egg, the highest level it can achieve is a four-star, even if the system gives you a commentless tempting dish message.
3. Not all cooks are created equal.
Feeling frustrated at times when when the ingredient bar is dancing like high on meth and WILL NOT STOP? I've been there with you. There are good news and bad news.
The good news is, you can reduce the dancing effect from this high:

to this sober:
Better yet, the dancing motion CAN COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR, like this:
Here's the best part: you can do so without going through the mess and fuss of suing Nexon/DevCat for creating this part of the game.
The bad news is how to achieve the results. DEX. Cooking is all about DEX. The higher dex you've got, the more invincible your cooking progress bar is against the temptation of getting high.
Worse: Dex will not change like BOOM. It works like a rehab center and takes an enormous amount of effort and time to calm the bar down. At the second picture in the above, the dex is 200.
Worst: If you're one of those perfectionists out there and accepts no compromises of the dancing effect, you'll have to raise your dex all the way up to its limit. I wish you the best of luck on your journey of achieving your max dex. You'll need it.
4. Not all characters are created equal. (Tofucakee)
You are anticipating the perfect and slender build of your new body after three weeks of living on berries and apples. But the result is not exactly what you want. Fat deposits are your worst enemy, and you don't exactly think that the so-called muscles look so great on your figure. How can the ever-so-healthy berry diet go wrong?
Here's the most common reason. You are afraid that your character will look/become anorexic so you fed berries to he/she even when the yellow bar is full. DevCat and Nexon will try desperately to cover the fact that you will become fat no matter what you eat once your stamina hits top by showing you a misleading message across the screen telling you that you're losing weight, your legs are becoming slimmer, and you're losing muscles on your upper body.
CAUTION: On Saturdays the fullness of foods (aka how much more stamina it recovers) will double. Be careful with what you eat.
5. Not all Erinn seasons are created equal.(I)
Here's something to cheer about when a storm arrives in Erinn. Raining actually increases your chances of getting better stars of cooking. Who knows, maybe Morrighan also likes to cook in the rain? So be sure to watch out for those moments, and if they do happen, ladies and gentlemen, show them your cooking pots, tables, knives, and dippers! You can find a detailed storm watch schedule here.
6. Not all ages are created equal. (Qusky.com:Taiwan Cooking Wiki)
You think you can still get the bang without the bucks? Nexon's making you pay with your time if you don't pay with your money. Aside from disadvantages from APs, you are also slower at getting the permanent effects of the foods if your character is older.
7. Not all hunger levels are created equal.( Question about food and stat boosts)
If you're a person who eats with a purpose, be careful. Like in real life, 95% hunger doesn't necessarily mean that you/your char is hungry. Eating at a low level of hungriness may decrease the perm. stat effect and fatten your char.

"FREQUENTLY" ASKED QUESTIONS:
This is where all of the questions ever asked in this thread related to cooking belongs. Before you ask a question, please scan this section first to see if it's already answered.
1. How do I get the cooking skill, anyways?
Go to Glenis, talk to her using the "skills" keyword, and she'll give you a book. Advance-read it and you'll successfully gain the wonderful skill of cooking.
2. Why didn't the cut-scene appear when I ate my 5-star food?
It's in Tip #1. Go read it.
3. Is there anyways to stop that progress bar from moving so much? If not, reduce it?
It's in Tip #3. Go read it.
4. Why is my character's size increasing horizontally even though I fed it all the non-fat foods I could find?
It's in Tip #4. Go read it.
5. Your recipe section doesn't even have half of the recipes in other cookbooks. Why?
I'm updating it every Generations and Seasons to come. That's why you need to check this post often and reply so you can bump this thread back to the main page and I can be proud of the popularity of my work. XD
6. I have more questions that is not answered in your extremely short FAQ section. Where can I get an answer?
By asking in your replies, of course. ^^ I ran out of brain cells and creativeness after creating this whole thing. I will edit it in this section if I find your question interesting enough. If your question is common and important to most of us, I might even add a tip entry just for that. In exchange for the publishing right, I will put your name in parentethese next to the question you asked.

*************************Recipe Section************************
This is a probably the neatest section in this whole encyclopedia so I'm just not going to bold the important things. Bolding is just for you to find dishes easier.
If you ever find an alternative recipe, more info on stat boosts on different stars, corrections and additions, reply so I can add it to this section and give you credit for it.
NOTES (Not arranged by importance):
1. The quality of the ingredients DOES NOT affect the quality of the food you're making. You can use a 1-star mayonnaise(it'll actually take skills to make that, since even food scraps are "three starred" ^^; ) and still end up with perfect 5-star fruit salad at the end.
2. Fullness represents the units of your stamina bar(yellow part) that goes up after eating the food. The hungriness(black part) your char recovers is based on percentages.(Tolinar and Lynbenlai)
3. Please do not mistaken Chocolate for chocolate materials, or salt with sugar.
4. Make sure that you have the right skills on (baking, simmering) before you cook. Even if you do have the perfect ingredient ratio, you will still get food Scraps if you have the wrong skill on.
5. ***** means 5-star, and **** means 4-star.
6. The permanant stats will only take effect after you've been eating them for a long time. Once they appear, you cannot reverse the effect by stop eating it.

******************CUT SCENES******************
Note:I'm still trying to gather all of the videos, and some are not available on Youtube. If you do have a video that I do not have listed here to share, please do so and I'll give credit to you.
There are many kinds of cut-scenes that you might get. There are different levels of them, however. Some are exclusive to certain types of food, some appear only at perfect cookings, and some are just ordinary generic ones. So far
EXCLUSIVE:
You can only watch those cut-scenes from this certain food. The cooking also has to be perfect (read Tips section for meaning) in order to watch the cutscene.
Roasted Chicken Wing Cut-scene
Steak Cut-scene
Fried Eggs Cut-Scene
GENERIC:
You can watch these cut-scenes from basically any food except for the ones that have exclusive cut-scenes. Very common.
Nao: Taste of Heaven Cut-scene
Stomach Appealing Cut-scene
Simon Dance Cut-scene
HELP SECTION:
Pig Cut-scene
I'm semi-sure that this is not released yet, but can someone tell me if this is an exclusive one or generic?
