Um, well, as far as I can tell, getting a land mount is really nice.
However, I'd prefer a flying mount over a land mount because... Land mounts are good in Uladh. However, Iria is a large, irritating expanse. For this reason, plus the fact that I don't really go places that require extensive use of a land mount, plus the fact that you can use flying mounts in areas that showed up after G3, I recommend a flying mount. EDIT: I'm not to sure how smart I am, so you may want others to post in this thread before you make a decision. |

You need one of both at least.
Flying Mounts are necessary in order to get to some parts of Iria... and to get around Ch3 Uladh areas faster. Land Mounts are necessary for older parts of Uladh, and more importantly for navigating Dungeons and Shadow Missions in a hurry (not to mention that they can be used to mitigate the effects of Ice Mines). Flying Mount suggestion : Eagle. Land Mount suggestion : Snow Tiger (while it is available).... otherwise, the Thoroughbred.

Should I get a 1 mount or 2 mount?
![]() The fastest land and air mounts are the Thoroughbred and Eagle, which are 1 mounted. What are the second fastest land and air mounts that are 2 mounted? o-o The Pelican and Shire? Last edited by Elixau; 12-19-2010 at 09:55 AM. |

Here is my expert opinion:
If you're short on NX, get a mount that flies and runs fast, there is no huge advantage in having one that runs and one that flies. If you don't care about being able to carry people (and you shouldn't), get a broom, the Oak one with the flower. If you care about people, get a carpet. Both move on the ground as fast as a shire, and both fly as fast as a pelican. The carpet is slightly more expensive but it's what you pay to carry passengers. Beyond that, you should have a combat pet, which currently the Tiger is the best option, but they are limited so get one quick. Don't bother buying the combo pack for 25k, it's a waste and the hat is stupid looking. The Snow Tiger is a very capable pet but you have to train it up a good bit (Level 42 recommended). I highly advise the tiger though, I greatly enjoy mine now that it has rank 5 smash, which is higher than any other pet can get. Plus it's mountable and you can fight while mounted, regardless of race. If you prefer to not spend 15000 nx on a tiger, then go with a Mini Bear. They are excellent combat partners and require comparatively less training, only to about level 35. The best way to train either the tiger or the bear is to log in on the pet and fight field monsters in Iria. I recommend the Maned Ardvarks and YOUNG Long Horned Gnus at the flower mark. Any pets after that are whatever you like. I have 10, and when you have more money you can upgrade to better models, like I got a Thoroughbred after my carpet.

using both my ostrich and pelican, and I had a lot of time left when I got done playing. Of course, I didn't explore much, but nowadays, that doesn't give me much trouble. |

If you need to carry more people around (and sometimes you do), you get either an Antique Mimic or Magic Carpet.... especially if "other people" = Giants. Quote:
Tiggy gets almost 2k per mongoose... and the order of attack is quite simple: Smash > Combo (2hit if the BTM loads a skill, delayed 3hit otherwise) > Counter > Lightningbolt at mid-range > Attack > Counter+LB+Attack cycle. By about level 36ish, the BTMs die on the first cycle, sometimes on the first counter. All deaths I've had have been lag-related. Quote:
Honestly, I can't see a single situation that would justify a pelican. Those things are hideous, can't ground-run and can't carry giants.
