Reputation types?

I used the search function and nothing regarding this question came up~~so I hope this was not posted previously. ^^

I checked my profile today and found two colors of reputation received: grey and green. What's the difference between them?

I asked two members who each gave me a different color of rep and they both chose the "approve" on the rep option...so is there any other factor that determines the color?

Same here. I only have one green and a couple grey.

What's up with that?
Shouldn't this be in the Questions and Help section though?

Newer accounts give you 0 rep, aka the gray reputation. They implemented this because they didn't want people making new accounts and giving them rep.

Hmmmmm... are there also cases in which someone can give you more reputation points than other people? where does the reputation given to people depend on?

Also, thanks for bring that up Triumph14, I was also thinking of that: I gained 2 points from someone and yet 5 from another but they didn't seem to be giving rep multiple times..so do you get to choose how many rep of yours you give out?

it depends on the rep of the person giving you rep and i think that the post lenght has some effect on it too.

*cough cough* I actually made an account and tried giving other people *such as me and you* rep (I only did it for the post thats deserved it though) and tried to figure out the whole rep issue myself. But I failed to find the answer so I made this post. That rep was given from the account that has no rep in it so it's grey. Therefore Abyss's theory still stands true.

P.S. I'll give you the rep as soon as I figure out what determines the number of reps you give out. =P
