It only takes one person to ruin a guild's rep forever

This is true, but it's just a risk you take with running any guild on any game. Especially if it's a large/popular one. Though I have observed guilds with even slightly more selective member recruiting processes tend to be much more peaceful than open membership guilds. That's just my opinion though.

yeah that is true Trysta ^^ i see nuthing wrong with being a little selective in picking members. even a trail period b4 they are let into guild. where the candidate spends time with the guild members. memebers give their opinion on the candiate and the leaders and officers vote on if the candidate makes it.

In my experience in running guilds if you do open recruitment you always get trouble makes and guild hoppers. so i am selective in recruitment. but i will be only a contributing member of the MabiGuru guild. so ill go with whatever is decided.

I'm a fan of the idea of multiple smaller or more insular guilds with MabiGuru as a common nexus. That way each node is responsible for it's own actions, image and growth. This allows for people to choose whether or not to use MabiGuru as a sort of common baseline or to pursue other things and not attach themselves to this site by means of guild. It also would allow guilds to choose their own level of selectivity when bringing in new members, which I do think is important in respect to the achievement of certain guild-wide goals (such as maintaining friendly players, helpful players, experienced players, etc.). Just my thoughts though. <3
