Yea... I don't know who goes to the 2 month old posts and why they even decide the right thing to do is to post there. Anyways, Don't do it.

As the guidelines suggest, make a new thread. And no I do not care if there is a search option, that is more or less for questions that can be answered without asking again.

I mean, if you used the search button, and found an old thread, and have something REALLY important to say, then don't do it.

Ppl will flame me mercilessly. XD Well not really that bad, maybe a couple little flames.

The problem with bumping old threads is if the bumper posts something relevant, and the people who then look at the thread didn't post in it themselves or don't remember it, they might reply to the new post without realizing the date.
I lost count of how many times i start thinking of a reply, only to scroll up and notice the date of the post before the bump.

What helps is to have a script that automatically closes threads where the last post is X months old, not sure if VB has one already, vbulletin.org might.
